# Cursor

> Use Inferit models in Cursor through the OpenAI base URL override.

Cursor can send chat requests for custom models to any OpenAI-compatible base URL. Inferit plugs in there.

## Setup

1. Create a key in the [Buy workspace](https://inferit.app/buy) ([Quickstart](https://inferit.cc/docs/quickstart.md), steps 1 to 6).
2. In Cursor, open **Settings → Models**. Under the OpenAI API key section, paste your `ik_…` key and enable **Override OpenAI Base URL** with `https://api-production-c74b9.up.railway.app/v1`.
3. Add a custom model whose name is an Inferit catalog id with a live offer, e.g. `qwen/qwen-2.5-14b-instruct`, and enable it.
4. Pick that model in chat and send a message. Usage appears in the Buy workspace.

Your API must be publicly reachable

Cursor may make these requests from its own servers rather than from your machine, so a `localhost` API typically will not work. Use a deployed API or a public HTTPS tunnel while testing.

## Limits

- Cursor's menus and settings move between releases; the names above may differ slightly in your version.
- Some Cursor features (for example tab completion) use Cursor's own models and do not go through a custom base URL.
- The key override applies to all OpenAI-named models in Cursor while it is enabled.
